Panhellenic Point Guidelines
What are Panhellenic Points for?
  • Homecoming: Sororities are ranked in order of the house with the most points to the least. From this list, the first house receives top priority in picking the fraternity they would like to work with for the homecoming week, and so on down the rankings.
  • Greek Excellence Banquet: The house with the most points receives the "Most Involved Chapter Award" at the banquet.

What events are considered for Panhellenic Points?

  • All Panhellenic speakers (i.e. Tuesday nights at 6pm) or events that are sponsored by the Panhellenic Association are worth points. Attendance must be taken on the Points Attendance Sheet and turned in at the delegate meeting following the event.
  • All philanthropy events sponsored by sororities or fraternities are worth points as long as an Event Approval Form is turned in THREE WEEKS BEFORE the event (see below). Attendance must be taken on the Points Attendance Sheet and turned in at the delegate meeting following the event.
  • Any other philanthropic event for which an organization would like Panhellenic support will be considered for points by turning in an Event Approval Form THREE WEEKS BEFORE the event.

How are points determined?

  • Points are based on attendance for most events. One point per girl in attendance is the typical point system used. Attendance must be taken on the Points Attendance Sheet and turned in at the delegate meeting following the event.
  • If the event involves teams, it is at the discretion of the VPA as to how points will be allocated. The points merited for the particular event will be determined based on the circumstances and requirements of the team event, and announced prior to the event at the delegate meeting. A record of participation must be kept on the Points Attendance Sheet and turned in at the delegate meeting following the event.
  • If the event is an item drive, one point per item is the typical point system used. This is also at the discretion of the VPA, and will announced to the delegates before the event once a point system has been deemed fair in regards to the circumstances of the drive (item price, degree of difficulty to collect item, etc.). A count must be kept of all items collected and turned in along with a total at the delegate meeting following the event.

How to get an event approved for Panhellenic Points...

  • In order to have a cause supported by the APA through Panhellenic participation, an Event Approval Request Form must by filled out and submitted to Hannah McBrayer,  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , THREE WEEKS BEFORE THE EVENT/FUNDRAISER. This will allow time to determine if the cause fits the ideals of the Alabama Panhellenic Association and to disseminate all necessary information to the houses. You will be contacted within one week concerning your event's approval.
  • Due to the high demand of events requested for points, the APA has decided to put a limit on the number of events per month that will be accepted for points. Once eight events have been approved for a particular month, only events directly sponsored by sororities or fraternities will be approved. How are points determined?
