Student Support Resources
Academic Support
Members of the Alabama Panhellenic community prioritize their academic endeavors at the Capstone. Our women pride themselves on their scholastic achievement, and each chapter strives to maintain a high GPA (grade point average). The average number of study hours among Panhellenic chapters is 5.5 hours per week per member. Most students find they will need additional time outside of the classroom in order to adequately prepare for their academic coursework.
The Academic Resource Manual is a great resource for chapters and their members to utilize when trying to set goals for academic excellence. The resource manual has information for chapters to set goals for all members, or for individual members to utilize when creating their own academic success plans. Included are many resources on campus that specifically support students including the Capstone Center for Student Success, the University Writing Center, the Career Center, Counseling Center, Office of Disability Services, Student Care & Well Being, Student Support Services Trio Program, and Mathematics Technology Learning Center.

Counseling Center
The Counseling Center offers a variety of services to support students and the campus community. It is normal, even expected, that students may face stressful times or events while in college. By utilizing resources, like the counseling center, students are able to remain in school and potentially even improve their academic performance. The services are confidential so students can always be assured of their privacy. They are able to provide up to 15 counseling sessions per academic year. Types of counseling offered includes screen and evaluation, individual, couple, and group counseling, crisis intervention, and referral for medical and other services.
If you are experiencing a emergency, please contact UAPD at (205) 348-5454 and ask to speak with the on-call counselor. You can also text BAMA to 741-741 to text a trained volunteer.
Women & Gender Resource Center
The Women & Gender Resource Center (WGRC) addresses gender inequity and fosters a community of multiculturalism, social justice, safety, and leadership through gender-related outreach, advocacy, and support to communities of all identities. The WGRC provides free, confidential, and voluntary counseling and advocacy services to members of The University of Alabama community, programming designed to promote social justice and address gender disparities in academia, government, and the workforce. These programs include year long efforts such as the Student Leadership Council, gender specific mentoring programs, and Safe Sisters, a program of Greek Peer Leader/Educators from Panhellenic, NPHC, and UGC sorority groups. Safe Sisters are trained by professional staff members on the issues of interpersonal violence with a goal of promoting positive bystander behavior and building safe communities
